In addition to his membership on the Lincoln National Corporation Board of Directors, Mr. Tidwell serves on the boards of Lance, Inc. and Ruddick Corporation. He retired in March 2005 from Wachovia Bank as Executive Vice President and Director of Wealth Management operations in Georgia. His career with Wachovia spanned 32 years during which he held a variety of leadership positions in business development, loan administration and bank management. Prior to his career with Wachovia, Tidwell worked for Celanese Fibers Company in various accounting positions. Tidwell received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1967 from North Carolina Central University and a master’s degree in business administration with the highest academic record from Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University in 1980. Tidwell is involved with several Atlanta community/civic organizations, including serving on the Board of the Southern Education Foundation, Woodruff Arts Center and Project GRAD. He is a member of the Atlanta Rotary Club, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, 100 Black Men of Atlanta, and Friendship Baptist Church where he serves on the Board of Trustees. He is a Life Member of N.C. Central University Alumni Association and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., from which he received the Winston Salem Chapter Omega Man of the Year award in 1983. He also received the American Business Women’s Association, Winston-Salem Chapter, 1980 Boss of the Year award. Tidwell has served in various positions with the Atlanta Area Chapter of Boy Scouts of America, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, First Baptist Church, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Davidson College, Central Piedmont Community College Foundation, Charlotte/Mecklenburg Education Foundation, Charlotte/Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, N.C. Blumenthal Center for the Performing Arts, Mint Museum, and Afro American Cultural Center. |
