Iacob Mathiesen is the managing director of Inovio’s Norwegian subsidiary, Inovio AS, which is conducting preclinical research on DNA vaccines. Iacob came to Inovio Biomedical when Inovio AS, a company he co-founded to pursue R&D relating to electroporation, was acquired by Genetronics Biomedical Corporation in 2005 (Genetronics subsequently adopted the Inovio name.) With Inovio AS, Iacob pioneered novel advancements for electroporation methods and devices for DNA delivery. He continues to lead such advancements for Inovio Biomedical. He has been named as inventor or co-inventor on multiple patents and co-authored numerous scientific papers relating to the use of electroporation for DNA delivery. Iacob received a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Natural Sciences in 1991, an M.Sc. in Mathematics and Natural Sciences in 1993, and a Ph.D. in Medicine in 1999, all from the University of Oslo, Norway.
