G. Hughes Abell lives in Austin and is general partner of Llano Partners Ltd., a partnership engaged in ranching and commercial real estate. He is a founding member of the Tributary League, which supports the Colorado River Foundation. He also has private investments in industrial, agricultural and oil and gas concerns. Until 1995 he was president and chief executive officer of Abell Corporation, a privately held business with operating interests in fertilizer manufacturing and distribution and plastics molding. He currently is director of Goodman Global Holding, LP; principal and director of Mason County Feeders, Inc.; and principal of Sabine Interests, LLC. He is principal and past director of Hill Country Electric Supply Inc. and past director of Red Simpson, Inc. Abell is a member of the Board of Visitors of McDonald Observatory and chair of the board of trustees at St. Andrew's Episcopal School. Gov. Rick Perry appointed him to the Board in 2001 for a term that expires in 2007. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. |
