Hugh holds an MBA in Finance and Economics from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and a BS degree in Accounting from Fairfield University. He brings over thirteen years of accounting, finance and business valuation experience to his position as a Managing Director of Empire Valuation Consultants, LLC. Prior to joining Empire, Hugh was an auditor with Price Waterhouse and an internal auditor with an international manufacturer. Hugh is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with an advanced designation of Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, of which he is a member. He has also earned an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) certification from the American Society of Appraisers. Hugh has served as past Secretary of the Western New York Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers. Since joining Empire, Hugh has performed numerous valuations of varied business interests, including diverse classes of corporate equity, partnerships and limited liability companies, stock options and warrants, and intellectual property and other intangible assets. These valuations have been for gift and estate tax reporting, financial reporting (including Statement of Financial Accounting Standards 123, 141, and 142), buy-sell agreements, employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) administration, potential company and/or equity sales, litigation support and fairness opinions. Hugh continues to lecture on business valuation to graduate-level business students and professional associations, such as the Practising Law Institute and the Paralegal Association of Rochester. He has also co-authored a chapter on business valuation for the Financial Planner’s Library with Empire Senior Managing Director Bill Lockwood. |
