Dr. Jacob is the Director of the Human & Molecular Genetics Center (staff of 120), a Professor of Physiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, as well as the Warren P. Knowles Chair of Genetics and the Associate Section Chief for Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Jacob is a leading authority on the molecular genetics of complex disease and functional Genomics. He published the first genetic map of the rat, has published over 100 scientific papers on the topic and serves as an advisor to several companies on this topic. Dr. Jacob is the Chair of Coordinating Committee of the Program for Genomics Applications, a $33 million per year from the National Institutes of Health for understanding common, multigenic disease in humans. Previously, Dr. Jacob was a faculty member of Harvard Medical School and on the staff of Massachusetts General Hospital. He received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Iowa and completed his postdoctoral fellowship with Eric Lander at the MIT Genome Center. |
