Horacio B. Croxatto is the co-founder, principal investigator, and president of the Chilean Institute for Reproductive Medicine. He also created and directs the Regional Training Program of Human Resources for Reproductive Health of Latin America and the Caribbean. Croxatto received his medical degree from the Catholic University of Chile. In addition, he studied reproductive physiology under Charles Sawyer at UCLA and Sheldon Segal at Rockefeller University. His contributions to mammalian reproductive physiology and the application of the findings to the development of fertility regulation methods for men and women have been disseminated in nearly 200 original publications. In addition, Croxatto conducted fundamental research to develop methods for long-term delivery of steroid hormones that are currently used by millions of women around the world. In recognition of his productive career, Croxatto was recently awarded a presidential chair in science by the Chilean government. |
