Dr. Hilary Lang brings extensive academic and private industry research background to her patent prosecution in the areas of pharmaceuticals, organic chemistry, polymers and cosmetics. She provides clients with enforceability, validity and non-infringement opinions, and also handles freedom to operate analyses and due diligence investigations. In addition to patent prosecution, Hilary is experienced in patent litigation, including abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) litigation.
Prior to joining Foley Hoag, Hilary was associated with another national law firm. She also was a scientific advisor and patent agent with a Chicago-based firm. Hilary holds a doctorate in chemistry, and her doctoral research focused on development of synthetic organic methodology and photochemical reactions. After receiving her undergraduate degree in chemistry she worked for over two years as a research associate at Chiron Corporation (now Novartis), where her work emphasized small molecule combinatorial chemistry for the development of lead pharmaceutical candidates.
