Hikmet Ersek, Executive Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, is responsible for all areas of Western Union's business, including sales, marketing and finance in the region and oversees the management of 120 countries with more than 135,000 agent locations; he is based in Vienna, Austria. Hikmet joined Western Union in September 1999 as Regional Vice President for Southern Europe, later also taking on the Central and Eastern Europe region. In 2003 he was appointed Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa and South Asia, recently moving into the Executive Vice President position. He reports directly to Christina Gold, President and CEO of Western Union.
