Mr. Ito has more than 36 years of experience within Toshiba Corporation. He began his career in 1969 when he joined Toshiba Corporation, then Tokyo Shibaura Electric Company. In 1979, he became Manager of Strategic Business Planning for a joint venture with General Electric.
Subsequently, he returned to Toshiba as Manager, International Business Planning and Operations for the Semiconductor Group, where he was responsible for the operations of overseas manufacturing companies in the U.S., Germany, Malaysia and Mexico. Under his leadership, international strategic alliances were established with semiconductor companies such as Siemens, SGS-Thomson, LSI Logic, Motorola, and Cadence.
Following various senior level executive positions, including three years as Chairman and CEO of Toshiba America Electronic Components, Mr. Ito was appointed Toshiba Corporate Representative for the Americas and Chairman and CEO of Toshiba America in June, 2002. After 3 years in New York City, Mr. Ito returned to Tokyo to take a new position (Statutory Auditor) at Toshiba's publicly traded major subsidiary, Toshiba Ceramics Co., Ltd. in June 2005.
Mr. Ito holds a bachelor's degree in International Law and History of Western Political Thought from International Christian University, School of Liberal Arts in Tokyo, and a graduate degree in International Business Management and Management Theory from Indiana University Kelly School of Business. In February 2000, he received Academy of Fellow Alumni Award from Kelly School's Alumni Association and now serves its Dean's Advisory Council member. |
