Herb Cohen is a managing director with FTI Palladium Partners and is based in Washington, D.C. Mr. Cohen is a senior-level financial and business leader with more than 30 years of experience serving healthy as well as underperforming and distressed enterprises undergoing change. He has expertise in both publicly and privately held environments, working primarily for multilocation, multinational businesses with revenues ranging from $200 million and $5 billion.
Mr. Cohen specializes in interim management, with a successful track record in roles requiring a combination of leadership, analytical and technical accounting skills. In addition, Mr. Cohen has experience in many aspects of business mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, dispositions and liquidations. His expertise includes managing cash flows, financial planning and analysis, profit improvement programs, taxes and internal audit.
Some of the companies for which Mr. Cohen has held financial leadership roles include Mirant, Hayes Lemmerz International, Safety-Kleen, Harnischfeger Industries, and others.
Prior to joining FTI Mr. Cohen spent over nine years serving clients of AlixPartners LLC and portfolio companies of its affiliated private equity group, Questor. He worked to solve challenging and complex GAAP, SEC financial reporting, internal control, governance and related organizational matters. His work served as a critical step towards establishing enterprise value and aggregating several billion dollars for a number of distressed businesses that ultimately reorganized under bankruptcy proceedings.
Prior to AlixPartners LLC and Questor, Mr. Cohen served in senior financial officer roles in a variety of industries, including printing, publishing, cable television operations/programming and nursing homes.
Mr. Cohen holds a B.S. in accounting from the University of Maryland. He is a certified public accountant in Maryland and is a member of the Maryland Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Financial Executives International and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.
