Henry (Hank) P. Vigil is senior vice president, Consumer Strategy and Partnerships at Microsoft Corp. Vigil is responsible for developing Microsoft’s consumer strategy, managing Microsoft’s strategic engagements with consumer electronics companies, and developing relationships around emerging consumer platforms and consumer services.
Before he held this position, Vigil was senior director of Strategy Planning and Business Development for the Digital Television Group at Microsoft, responsible for the development of Microsoft’s digital TV strategy. During this time, he drove the acquisition and consolidation of WebTV Networks Inc., negotiated strategic alliances with Tele-Communications Inc. (TCI), Thomson Multimedia SA, Sony Electronics Inc., MEI and Gemstar, and managed Microsoft’s digital TV public relations and marketing efforts.
Previously Vigil was general manager of the Internet Commerce Business Unit, where he drove the acquisition of eShop Inc., and general manager of the Interactive Television Business Unit, where he redirected Microsoft’s development efforts toward the emerging Internet market. From 1990 to 1995, as director of marketing for Desktop Applications, he was responsible for overall marketing and business strategy for Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Vigil earned a masters degree in business administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from Stanford University. He serves on the board of directors of Artist Trust and is a citizen-founder of City Year Seattle, a national, nonprofit organization focused on the underwriting by private companies and citizens of teams of young adults who commit to a year of public service. |
