Dr. Henri Hodara is president of PHOTONICS, acquired by L-3 Communications from IPITEK in November 2003, as a unit of L-3’s Communication Systems-West division. Dr. Hodara co-founded Tetra Tech, Inc. in 1966 and became its president in 1983. He was responsible for building up hardware operations as well as directing and managing the company’s high technology. The company became public in 1977 and merged into Honeywell in 1982. By 1985, prior to two major divestitures by Honeywell, Tetra Tech annual revenues had grown under Dr. Hodara’s leadership to $80 million. In addition to his executive duties, Dr. Hodara was responsible for building up the company's fiber-optic capabilities, which included development and production of FIBERSEIS - a 1,024-channel fiber-optic seismic array for oil exploration - winning the U.S. Navy's ARIADNE program - an underwater fiber-optic telemetered acoustic detection system - building fiber-optic sensor and intrusion detection systems and developing an interferometric secure optical communication system. Dr. Hodara has earned a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MS from Stanford University and a Ph.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He holds many patents in the fields of laser and fiber optics and is the founder and editor-in-chief of Fiber & Integrated Optics, a bimonthly international journal. |
