Mr. Vanderhage is an Associate in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Denver office and a member of the firm's Tax Group. His practice focuses on all aspects of tax law, including corporate, partnership and international taxation, tax-deferred exchanges, formation and qualification of tax exempt entities, tax controversy resolution and litigation, state and local taxation, public finance and corporate mergers, acquisitions and financing. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Vanderhage worked for the Internal Revenue Service Office of Chief Counsel. He advised IRS agents and attorneys on procedural, administrative and tax litigation matters, including partnership audit procedures, litigation procedures and tax shelter controversies. He argued motions in the U.S. Tax Court and provided advice to the U.S. Department of Justice attorneys litigating tax disputes in the federal courts. Mr. Vanderhage is a licensed CPA in Washington State. From 1998 to 2001, prior to attending law school, he worked as a CPA preparing United States and Canadian tax returns for individuals and business entities. He also performed financial statement audits, reviews and compilations. |
