Ms. Meils is a member of the Labor & Employment Law Practice Group. She concentrates her practice in the areas of Employment and Immigration law. Ms. Meils counsels and defends employers in all areas of employment law and litigation. She represents clients regarding a variety of employment-related issues including employment discrimination claims, harassment claims, wage and hour disputes, wrongful discharge claims, and employment related contract disputes. Ms. Meils also counsels employers regarding routine employment matters including litigation avoidance and drafting, implementing, and administering employee handbooks and policies. Ms. Meils also provides advice and legal services regarding employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant visas. She assists foreign nationals in obtaining the full range of nonimmigrant visas (professional, management, student, tourist, business visitor, treaty trader and treaty investor) and obtaining extensions of periods of authorized stay. Ms. Meils assists employers sponsoring employees for immigrant visas, including assistance with and monitoring of PERM recruiting requirements. She also advises employers regarding I-9 compliance and employer obligations under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. |
