Bert Trucksess is the chairman of Saia, Inc. He is responsible for corporate strategy development of Saia and its operating subsidiaries.
From 1994 up to the September 30, 2002 spin-off that created Saia, Inc. (formerly SCST) as an independent company, Trucksess had been a senior executive with Saia's former parent, Yellow Corporation. Since 1984, Trucksess has held executive management positions in the trucking industry with affiliates of Sun Carrier and Preston Corporation. He spent the prior thirteen years in the energy business with the Sun company.
Trucksess is a member of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) board of directors, holding the position of vice president-at-large and a member of the ATA Litigation Center board of directors.
In 1971, Trucksess received a Bachelor of Science degree in business and economics from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. with highest honors and Phi Beta Kappa recognition. Trucksess resides in Kansas City, Mo. with his wife and he has four grown children.
