For the past twenty years, Gordon K. Constable has played an active role in the effort to transform organizations from a static mode of operation where problems are simply detected, to a preventive mode of operation through continuous improvement. He has provided training and consulting assistance to organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small companies, from government to private industry, and from manufacturing to service operations. His business experience includes consulting, advising and training activities primarily in the area of quality management utilizing the methods developed through Transformation of American Industry national training project and applied through the Total Quality Transformation system. Dr. Constable participated in one of the earliest conferences sponsored jointly by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) and Wright State University and on one of the first QC Circle team visits to the USA in 1972. Since then, his knowledge of the philosophy of W. Edwards Deming and Japanese management practices (from SPC to JIT) has been enhanced by international visits to study companies that have won the Deming Prize, participation in the Ohio Quality and Productivity Forum (OQPF), and participation in a number of Deming seminars. A participant in the Conference on Productivity and International Competitiveness held in Washington D. C. by George Washington University and co-sponsored by The American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business, Dr. Constable also participated in the White House Conference on Productivity, addressing new ways for the U.S.A. to become more productive through private sector initiative, human resource development, and government involvement. Dr. Constable's academic credentials include a Ph. D. in Production Logistics, a Master of Science in Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from the Krannert School of Business at Purdue University. Until recently, he was on the faculty of the College of Business and Administration at Wright State University, where for 24 years he taught courses in quality management, production and operations management, purchasing, probability, and statistics at both undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, Dr. Constable has published papers and made presentations at conferences throughout the United States and at meetings in Europe, Asia and Australia. |
