Dr. Josephson’s responsibilities as the Chief Operating Officer, Baystate Medical Practices, include oversight and leadership of the 330+ physicians employed by Baystate Health. Specific responsibilities include practice operations, provider recruitment, oversight of quality and patient satisfaction programs, managed care contracting, leadership development and budget/finance oversight. Prior to his arrival at Baystate Health in 1997, Dr. Josephson served as the Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Metro West Medical Center, Framingham, MA (1990-1997) and Chief of Emergency Medicine of the Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA (1977-1990). A past President of the Massachusetts College of Emergency Physicians, he also served as the President of the Central Massachusetts Emergency Medical Systems Corporation and was an early leader in building Massachusetts’ advance cardiac care and trauma systems. Dr. Josephson graduated from the University of Vermont (BA) and the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center (MD). He has also received graduate degrees in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Vermont (MS) and Master of Public Health form the Harvard School of Public Health (MPH). He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. |
