Ms. Christensen practices primarily in the areas of workers' compensation and medical indigency. Ms. Christensen represents insurance carriers and self-insured employers in workers' compensation cases and has mediated more than 100 workers' compensation claims. She has successfully appealed numerous cases to the Idaho Supreme Court dealing with the interpretation and application of the Idaho workers' compensation and medical indigency statutes. Ms. Christensen was a member of the 1995 joint legislative committee that revised Idaho's Medical Indigency Act and participated in numerous seminars to inform health care providers of the significant changes in the medical indigency law.Representative matters handled by Ms. Christensen include:Defense of cases arising out of mass exposure to zinc oxide fumes with alleged aggravation of numerous ailments, particularly lung complaints. The cases involved the use of industrial medicine experts as well as pulmonary specialists and neurologists.Defense of a disability case in which the primary issue was the appropriate comparison of pre-injury and post-injury wages. The supreme court rejected as speculative the appellants' argument for comparison of the post-injury wage in the claimant's time of injury job with his post-injury wage in a new job. The court affirmed the Industrial Commission's use of the claimant's pre-injury and post-injury wages to measure disability.Ms. Christensen is a member of the American Bar Association and the Idaho State Bar. She is a member of the Workers' Compensation and Employment and Labor Law Sections of the Idaho State Bar. In addition to admission to practice before the U.S. District Court and state courts in Idaho, Ms. Christensen has been admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Christensen is active in the community, serving on numerous advisory boards. She is also an attorney volunteer with the Ada County CASA (Guardian ad Litem) program.Ms. Christensen received her undergraduate degree from Utah State University, her M.A. from Ohio University, and her Juris Doctor from Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark School of Law in 1978. |
