Glen Watkins has more than 20 years of experience in complex real estate transactions of various kinds, including the acquisition, financing and development of commercial and retail properties as well as resort properties. He has also partnered with real estate clients to assist them in the commercial and regulatory implications of their transactions, including related land use, government compliance and unique corporate matters. Glen is also experienced in business transactions including mergers and acquisitions, disposition and acquisition of assets, and corporate governance and finance matters.
Glen has the highest possible rating from Martindale Hubbell (AV rating), and currently serves as the chair of Jones Waldo’s board of directors. In 2007, he was singled out by Chambers USA as one of the most effective attorneys in Jones Waldo’s Real Estate Practice Group. He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America and Utah Business Magazine’s Legal Elite from 2006-2008 for his work in real estate.
Glen presently serves on the Salt Lake Chamber Board of Governors and the Advisory Board for the University of Utah's College of Social and Behavioral Science. He has served as a member of the Utah Air Travel Commission, the Technology and Business Advisory Board of Westminster College, Board of Directors of Ballet West, Board of Directors of YMCA of Greater Salt Lake; as president of Camp Kostopolous (a camp for disabled children); as trustee and secretary of the S.J. Quinney College of Law (University of Utah) Alumni Association, and as a committee member (1996-1998) of the Utah Governor's Commission for Women and Families in rewriting the 1998 Utah Women and the Law handbook.
Glen attended Stanford and the University of Utah where he received an Honors B.A. Degree in economics, magna cum laude in 1972. He received his J.D. degree from the University of Utah in 1975. Glen began his legal career with Jones Waldo after graduating from law school and clerking for the Chief Justice of the Utah Supreme Court. During his career at Jones Waldo he served as the resident managing shareholder of the Washington style D.C. office from 1981 to 1986. He is admitted to practice in Utah, the District of Columbia and before the United States Supreme Court.
