PRACTICE DESCRIPTION
Mr. DeConti has more than 20 years of experience practicing intellectual property law and specializes in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and chemistry, including drugs, proteins, peptides and antibodies (monoclonal antibodies), nucleic acids (siRNA), small organic molecules, drug discovery technology, recombinant DNA and genomics. Mr. DeConti works interactively with clients to build strong patent portfolios that enhance the protection and commercialization of biological and pharmaceutical products and related technologies. He has extensive experience in intellectual property due diligence, patentability, validity and infringement opinions, licensing and the preparation and prosecution of patents.
Mr. DeConti has counseled biotechnology companies in developing and implementing intellectual property strategy, through all phases of their development from start-up through maturity, through private and public financing, and in the formation of corporate partnerships and alliances. He has worked with pharmaceutical companies to protect new drugs and drug discovery technology, and to provide evaluations of intellectual property in connection with partnerships and collaborations, and with the acquisition or licensing of intellectual property assets. Mr. DeConti has also advised investors such as venture capitalists and investment bankers in assessing the strength of intellectual property assets held by prospective candidates for investment. Mr. DeConti brings this experience to each client relationship to help create and implement optimal strategies for securing worldwide protection of a client's intellectual property.
Mr. DeConti is a member of the Firm's Executive Committee. He holds an AV peer review by Martindale-Hubbell, was named one of "America's Leading Business Lawyers" for IP in 2007 by Chambers and Partners USA, and has been recognized as a Massachusetts SuperLawyer by Law & Politics in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE
Prior to obtaining his law degree, Mr. DeConti served as a research associate in a multidisciplinary research project involving steroid biochemistry, renal physiology and endocrinology. He is the co-author of several scientific papers. |
