Gianna J. Arnold provides business and intellectual property counsel. She is a registered patent attorney whose practice includes patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and unfair competition law, with a focus on business, intellectual property, licensing, and litigation matters relating to life-science industries. She represents former and current Fortune 500 corporations, start-up and growth companies, and universities on matters such as the development and management of patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios, sponsored research, joint development, licensing, and product development. Ms. Arnold assists clients in implementing a knowledge strategy to result in appropriate identification, protection, and management of their intellectual assets and in securing and enforcing their intellectual property rights worldwide. She regularly prepares opinions on matters such as patentability, validity, infringement and freedom to use. She also conducts intellectual property due diligence analysis in connection with mergers, acquisitions, licensing, private equity placements and public stock offerings. Ms. Arnold is an experienced entrepreneur and corporate executive, and has first-hand knowledge and practice in matters such as entity formation, financing, and mergers/acquisitions. With that entrepreneurial background, she regularly counsels start-up and early stage companies in regard to the protection of their intellectual assets and prepares corresponding agreements. Ms. Arnold’s scientific background includes experience as an analytical chemist in both the biochemical and environmental realm. In the biochemical realm, she has devised quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis using high performance liquid chromatography, infrared spectroscopy, gas chromatography, wet chemistry, and mass spectrometry.
