Mr. Zambeletti was born in Varese, Italy, on May 4, 1941.
On June 18, 2003, he was appointed Telecom Italia Group Senior Vice President of International Affairs, with responsibility for Mergers and Acquisitions.
Mr. Zambeletti has spent much of his working life in the chemicals/pharmaceuticals industry. He began his career at the Zambeletti Espana S.A. company in Madrid in 1966, where he served as CEO until 1980.
He later became Chairman and CEO of the Zambeletti S.p.A. parent company in Italy. He maintained his position until 1989, long after the company was acquired (in 1984) by UK company Beecham PLC. In 1989, he acquired Ellem Industria Farmaceutica from Farmitalia Carlo Erba, in partnership with France's largest private pharmaceuticals group. After selling his stake to his French partners, he became a consultant to Andersen Consulting on financial matters, working out of London.
In November 2001, he joined the Telecom Italia Group to manage the disposal of non-strategic companies. He was directly involved in the sale of Spanish company Auna, French company Neuf Telecom, Telecom Serbia, Entel Chile, Entel Peru and Digitel Venezuela. His responsibilities have also extended to Group operations and alliances in Brazil, Argentina and Turkey.
Mr. Zambeletti sits on the Boards of Telecom Italia International, Avea, Oger Telecom and Ojer Telekomunikasyon (Turkey). |
