Ghislain Parent joined the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec in December 2002 and is responsible for corporate accounting, accounting research, budget and financial analysis, corporate treasury, real estate, and strategic initiatives and planning. He oversees the financial management of the Caisse and its subsidiaries, in co-operation with the finance and control personnel at each subsidiary. Mr. Parent is also President of CDP Financial, the corporate financing subsidiary of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.
Background
Mr. Parent is a chartered accountant with extensive finance and audit experience. He began his career with Clarkson Gordon (now Ernst & Young) as an Auditor and Senior Auditor. He also worked for the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions of Canada as Senior Inspector in Montréal, before joining Desjardins-Laurentian Financial Corporation as Director, Financial Analysis. Mr. Parent continued his career at Laurentian Bank of Canada, first as Vice-President, Audit and Security, and later as Vice-President and Chief Accountant. Before joining the Caisse, he worked for the International Monetary Fund as Senior Adviser, Banking Supervision, Africa region.
Connections
In 1997 and 1999, Mr. Parent moderated conferences on banking supervision in developing countries for the World Bank and the Banking Commission of the Bank of France. In 1995, he took part in the Governor General's Canadian Study Conference. |
