As vice president of Global Sourcing and Manufacturing, Jerry Karver is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sourcing, production and compliance for Nike. This includes capacity planning, supplier relationships, corporate responsibility compliance, product integrity, delivery, and the ongoing integration of Nike’s supply chain processes and systems into apparel operations on a global basis.
Outside of Nike, Jerry has served as a volunteer board member for schools and for a women’s support agency. He likes to golf, water and snow ski with his wife, and build custom cars with his children.
The defining moment in sports for Jerry was coaching an eighth-grade boys basketball team and watching the team win when it trailed by one point with 1.5 seconds remaining. Jerry called time out and instructed a boy on the crucial pass. When the defense reacted, the boy made the pass to a player who was not expected to make the clutch shot. But he did, and we won, Jerry said. Even better, the credit for the win went to the player who made the pass, crystallizing the whole team’s understanding of teamwork. |
