Gerald Kelly, Jr., is United's senior vice president-Strategic Sourcing and Continuous Improvement and chief information officer. He is based at the company's headquarters in Chicago.
Named to the position in November 2005, he is responsible for information technology including strategy, applications development, infrastructure and operations, information and security. He also leads the strategic sourcing, procurement and continuous improvement initiatives at United.
Prior to his current position, he served as the chief information officer and senior vice president for Procurement and Continuous Improvement at Sears, Roebuck & Co. From 1986 to 2001, Kelly served as an executive officer of Payless Shoesource, Inc., of Topeka, Kan., a $3 billion dollar international specialty retailer. He also served as a member of Payless' Senior Management, Operating, Capital Expenditure and Political Action Committees.
Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in economics, summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois, and he also served in the United States Marine Corps. Kelly is a member of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way of America. |
