Director of Total Quality and Corporate Responsibility STMicroelectronics
Georges Auguste was born in Oran Algeria in 1949. He graduated in 1973 from the Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité in Paris with an engineering degree.
Auguste started his career in the semiconductor industry as a technical manager at the manufacturing site of Philips Composants located in Caen France. Over the next decade he advanced his career by accepting increasingly important roles in production management within the Company. During this period he also obtained the diploma of the "Institut d'Administration des Entreprises" (Institute of Business Administration).
He left Philips Composants in 1986 to become head of production at THOMSON Semiconducteurs’ new integrated circuit (IC) manufacturing facility in Nancy France. Two years later he was promoted to General Manager of the plant.
In 1987 THOMSON Semiconducteurs formed a merger with SGS Microelettronica to create SGS-THOMSON Microelectronics (now STMicroelectronics). Three years later in 1990 Auguste was appointed Managing Director of ST in Morocco where he began an ambitious improvement program bringing performance levels to the same high standard as the Company’s other back end plants while expanding the output of the two factories in Ain Sebaa and Bouskoura near Casablanca.
Since 1993 environmental protection has been a key mission in the business policy of STMicroelectronics and in 1997 following his successes in Morocco Auguste was appointed Director of the Total Quality and Environment Group.
In 1999 he was promoted to Corporate Vice President Director of Total Quality and Environmental Management (TQEM) to spearhead the organization responsible for the implementation of ST’s ambitious goals in the fields of environment and quality. This challenging role involves the incorporation of the ecological culture into Company management to reduce the consumption of natural resources in manufacturing processes and to achieve environmental neutrality by 2010.
Since 2005 his mission has been enlarged to cover the coordination of ST’s corporate responsibility strategy encompassing social ethical and environmental aspects. As Corporate Vice President Director of Total Quality and Corporate Responsibility Georges Auguste plays a pivotal role in the Company’s achievements both in terms of customer satisfaction through his leadership in quality programs and in terms of a wider stakeholder satisfaction through the integration of corporate responsibility. |
