Research Scientist - Center for Information Systems Research, MIT Sloan School of Management
Dr. George Westerman is a Research Scientist in the Center for Information Systems Research (CISR) at MIT's Sloan School of Management. His research in IT risk management provides implementable advice on effective IT compliance and operational risk management, based on surveys and case studies from more than 150 enterprises. In his ongoing work on CIO leadership, he has identified important levers through which current CIOs can boost their credibility and aspiring CIOs can position themselves for the next opportunity. He has been cited by CIO Magazine, Gartner, and other leading publications. His work has appeared in publications such as Sloan Management Review, Harvard Business School cases and numerous working papers from MIT CISR. In addition to regular contact with MIT CISR sponsors, he leads an MIT Sloan executive education program called "IT for the Non-IT Executive," which is attended by more than 200 senior executives annually.
