George Tai was appointed to the Board on April 11, 2007. George practices securities and business law with the law firm of Carscallen Leitch, LLP in Calgary, Alberta.
In addition to a legal practice in securities law, George has international legal experience structuring and negotiating on behalf of domestic clients, complex commercial and licensing contracts in the People's Republic of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and Europe. George has successfully negotiated on behalf of his clients, numerous licensing and commercial business arrangements with several multinational original equipment manufacturers and telecommunications companies, including Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG Electronics, Nintendo and Alcatel, and has managed intellectual property disputes in both the People's Republic of China and the United States. George also speaks Mandarin Chinese.
Prior to returning to the practice of law in 2004, George held senior executive positions in legal, finance and operations with private and public (TSX and NASDAQ) technology companies, including Zi Corporation, where he served as Chief Operating Officer from 2000 to 2003.
George received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario.
