George Shemas is responsible for Sypherlink’s commercial software development, from methodology, requirements definition and analysis & design through implementation and testing. He joined the company in 2007 with more than 25 years of experience in the information technology (IT) industry, including working with national, regional, state and local authorities to create XML-based information-sharing applications. For more than seven years prior to Sypherlink, Mr. Shemas was involved in developing information management solutions for public-safety and law-enforcement organizations. Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Shemas was the technical project lead for the design and development of the Ohio Local Law Enforcement Information Sharing Network (OLLEISN), which collects crime data from more than 900 law-enforcement agencies that use Global Justice XML (GJXML) technology throughout the state. Mr. Shemas also has acted as project lead for development of the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway (OHLEG) Search Engine and Records Management System, sponsored by the Ohio Attorney General. OHLEG applications provide information services for more than 30,000 Ohio law-enforcement officials at various levels of government. In addition, he has worked to implement Global Justice XML Data Model National Information Exchange Model (GJXDM/NIEM) standards-based, statewide information-sharing applications in California and evada. Through 2007, Mr. Shemas was serving as chairman of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Interstate Exchange Project sponsored by IJIS (the Integrated Justice Information Systems Institute) and the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance. He is Justice Information Exchange Model (JIEM)-certified by SEARCH, The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics, a nonprofit membership organization created by and for the states to identify and help solve the information-management problems of state and local justice agencies. Mr. Shemas began his career in 1981, as a Battelle Memorial Institute research scientist. In the ‘90s, he held executive positions at Information Dimensions and, later, Open Text. In 1999, he founded the Dublin Technology Group, which provided e-business IT strategies and systems-integration services, and merged in 2002 with Optimum Technology, with Mr. Shemas assuming the role of vice president and Chief Technical Officer.
