George Munro brings to CLS experience in public relations, coalition building and political communications. His areas of expertise include business development, elections administration, campaign strategy and international trade. Before joining CLS in the spring of 2006, George was the Press Secretary for the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS), the nation's oldest professional, non-partisan organization of public officials. As Press Secretary at NASS, George served as the association's spokesperson on a variety of issues including election reform, voter registration, securities fraud, and international trade. In addition to his role as Press Secretary, he was director of the NASS New Millennium Young Voters Project, coordinating all voter outreach and education activities for the association. George has also worked on numerous projects building coalitions of business and community leaders. While serving as Communications Director for the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, he coordinated the formation of the Alaska Way Viaduct and Seawall Coalition, a group of business and civic leaders who worked to secure the federal, state and local funding necessary to rebuild Seattle’s aging waterfront highway. During his tenure with Washington State’s Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development, George assisted in the formation of the coalition that helped Washington state secure a contract with The Boeing Company to assemble the new 787 Dreamliner in the state. From 1999-2002, George worked on various political campaigns in California and Washington state, including John McCain’s 2000 presidential bid, two United States Senate campaigns, one gubernatorial campaign and numerous local races. George received a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Pepperdine University. He is a native of the State of Washington. |
