George J. Sampas joined Sullivan & Cromwell in 1991 and became a partner of the Firm in January 2000. He returned to the Firm's New York office in October 2004 from the London office where he had been based since May 2000. Mr. Sampas has been a member of S&C's Mergers & Acquisitions Group since 1993. Recently, his practice has emphasized unsolicited acquisition transactions, as well as negotiated cross-border merger transactions, including representing Vodafone in its acquisition of AirTouch, Mannesmann and Japan Telecom, Alcan in its acquistion of Pechiney and Aventis in its defense of Sanofi's unsolicited bid. Mr. Sampas has also worked on a wide variety of securities offerings for various issuers.
