George H. Soares is a founding partner and the managing partner of the firm.
He is responsible for the overall management of the firm and regularly appears before the California State Legislature and various state and federal administrative agencies on behalf of their clients.
Before entering private practice, George served as a principal consultant to the California State Assembly from 1972 through 1978. George earned his Juris Doctor Degree at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in June 1973. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1966 from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. He served as student body president at Cal Poly during his senior year and was named to "Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges". George is admitted to the California Bar, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
The recipient of numerous awards and appointments, George was selected as one of the Outstanding Young Men in America in 1973; from 1981 to date, serves on the Cal Poly Foundation Board of Directors which has direct responsibility over a wide array of university services; in 1986 was named an honorary lifetime member of the California Agricultural Aircraft Association; in 1987 was chosen Cal Poly Alumnus of the Year for the College of Agriculture; served on the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Education Foundation from 1990 through 1999; since 1996 has served on the San Joaquin College of Law Agricultural Advisory Board; was made an honorary lifetime member of the Western Crop Protection Association in 1999; received the Outstanding Service Award from the American Crop Protection Association in 2000; the 2001 recipient of the Golden Bear Award presented by the California State Fair for service to youth; and has been selected as a 2002 recipient of the California Agricultural Leadership Program's Profile in Leaders in the category of Public Policy.
In addition to his law practice, George, and his wife Gloria own and operate a dairy and farming business in Hanford, California.
