Dr. George F. Vande Woude is the Director of the Van Andel Research Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He spent more than thirty years at the National Cancer Institute in a variety of roles, most notably that of Special Advisor to the Director of the National Cancer Institute and Director of the Division of Sciences (1998-1999), where he reorganized the intramural basic sciences.
Dr. Vande Woude is the author of over 250 scientific research articles and over 60 articles in books or monographs. He has served as Editor of Journal of Virology and as an Editorial Board Member of Cell, Cancer Research, and Journal of Virology and is currently as an Editorial Board Member of Oncogene, Molecular Imaging, Cancer Letters, Cell Cycle and Molecular Cancer Research. Dr. Vande Woude was Founding Editor of Cell Growth and Differentiation and, since 1989, has been Co-editor (with George Klein) of Advances in Cancer Research.
Through the course of his 45-year scientific career, Dr. Vande Woude has mentored more than 70 postdoctoral fellows, students, and visiting scientists. His laboratory has published over 300 research articles that have been referenced on more than 8500 occasions.
