Senator George F. Allen served as Governor of Virginia from 1994 to 1998 and brought sweeping reform that made Virginia a national model in economic development that focused on technology, public safety with truth in sentencing and abolition of parole, education accountability with high academic standards and funding, welfare reform and creative government. As a United States Senator from 2001 to 2007, Senator Allen continued to advocate policies to make America and Virginia a leader in innovation and technology. In 2001, he was appointed Chairman of the Senate High Tech Task Force and later in his term he created the Competitive Caucus to keep America the world capital of innovation. Senator Allen was a member on the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee where he co-sponsored with Senator Wyden the Nanotechnology Act. He also served on the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, the Energy and Natural Resources Committee as well as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Subcommittee on European Affairs |
