George E. Deese, 61, has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Flowers Foods since January 2006 and Chief Executive Officer of Flowers Foods since January 2004. Previously, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Flowers Foods from May 2002 to January 2004 and as President and Chief Operating Officer of Flowers Bakeries, the company's core business division, from 1983 to May 2002. Mr. Deese is the former chairman of the American Bakers Association (ABA) and has served for the past eight years on the ABA board and executive committee. Mr. Deese also serves on the Industry Affairs Council for the Grocery Manufacturers of America. Mr. Deese has served on the board of Quality Bakers of America for the past 15 years, including the last five years as vice chairman. Mr. Deese joined Flowers Foods in 1964. |
