Since June 18, 2006, Gene Gabbard has been a director of Hughes Communications, Inc. and a member of its Audit Committee. He is a private investor with a long and successful track record in the telecom industry. A former executive vice president and chief financial officer of MCI Communications Corp., Mr. Gabbard also served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Telecom USA. He was one of the founders and president of Digital Communications Corp., a Maryland start-up company that eventually became Hughes Network Systems.
