Chief Engineer FDIC Infrastructure Support Services Program
Gene Cartier is responsible for supporting SRA's advanced technology solutions for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), as well as for other SRA civil sector clients. He currently is leading network and systems modernization efforts for FDIC and NIH. At NIH he is leading the implementation of a campus-wide wireless network for the NIH Bethesda, Maryland campus. At FDIC he is leading migration to virtual server technology and implementing an integrated IP network that supports voice, data, and video services to over 80 locations nationwide. Cartier also serves as a senior technical advisor to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at NIH.
He has worked on and led many of SRA's systems integration and engineering projects, serving as a lead engineer and program manager. Cartier was previously the director of the SRA systems engineering center, where he was responsible for the management and technical leadership of many systems, communications, and security engineers supporting a wide variety of SRA projects and programs.
Prior to joining SRA, Cartier served in the U.S. Army in special operations and information technology assignments and at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is on the national steering committee of the Systems Security Engineering Capability Maturity Model (SSE-CMM) Standards Board.
