Experience:
Gary is a partner in the London office and leader of the European Real Estate group. With nearly thirty years of experience in real estate law, he has worked on all types of commercial property transactions including institutional investment, property finance, corporate real estate and complex development projects, including a number with significant occupational requirements. Gary is well known for his work on many high profile projects both in the UK and internationally.
Gary is recognised as a leading individual in Chambers & Partners' UK and Global legal guides, the latter of which notes, "'Tuned into clients’ needs more than most,' Gary Watson is appreciated for his commercial acumen."
Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 2007, Gary was a partner at another large international law firm. He is conversant in French.
Notable Engagements:
Advises the developers of The Shard of Glass (which will be Europe's tallest building) and the adjoining 25 London Bridge Street.
Advises State Street Corporation in regard to its English real estate requirements including its new headquarters building at 20 Churchill Place, Canary Wharf.
Advised various UK local authorities in regard to significant town centre and other development projects.
Advised various investors in regard to cross border portfolio and other investment transactions.
