Gary Thoe President Emmis Publishing LP oversees the company's city/regional and craft magazines: Texas Monthly Los Angeles Magazine Atlanta magazine Indianapolis Monthly Cincinnati magazine Country Sampler Country Sampler's Decorating Ideas Country Business Country Marketplace and Tu Ciudad. These magazines have a combined circulation of over 1 400 000 copies. He has served in his present position since February 1998.
Thoe previously had served as Publisher of Indianapolis Monthly from 1984 to 1988 at the time owned by Mayhill Publications Inc. September 1988 Indianapolis Monthly was sold to Emmis Communications and Thoe remained involved as an operational and acquisition consultant. Thoe served as President and part owner of Mayhill Publications Inc. publisher of AntiqueWeek and Farmweek newspapers from 1982 to 2000. Mayhill Publications Inc. recently was sold to DMG world media in May 2000.
Born in Palo Alto California and residing in Indianapolis for 24 years Thoe 47 holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and a MBA from Indiana University.
Thoe is married and has four children. He is involved in youth baseball is a member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization) is an active member of The John Purdue Club and serves on various boards to fraternal organizations.
Thoe is an avid fisherman backpacker and outdoor enthusiast. He tries to play golf and tennis occasionally. Gary Thoe and his wife spend a lot of enjoyable time watching their 4 children participate in sports and school activities. |
