A co-founder of Duckor Spradling Metzger & Wynne, Gary is responsible for the firm’s business practice. He is also instrumental in developing the firm's well-recognized expertise in the representation of physicians and other health care providers.
Assisting clients in the selection of a corporation, partnership or limited liability company for the start up of their business to achieve the desired business objectives comprises a significant portion of Gary's practice. He works closely with clients in all phases of their business, providing counseling with respect to financing needs, compensation and ownership succession arrangements, as well as structuring and negotiating merger and acquisition transactions and resolving management and governance disputes among owners.
Under Gary's leadership, and with the help of his partners and associates, the firm's health care practice now encompasses the full range of business and regulatory matters facing clients in the health care industry. Those matters include managed care contracting and the formation, affiliation and consolidation of medical groups, independent practice associations and management services organizations. Gary works with clients to develop joint venture arrangements with hospitals and assists medical groups in unwinding unsuccessful affiliations with hospitals and practice management companies.
Gary graduated from Southeast Missouri University in 1966 (B.S., Business Administration). At Hastings College of Law, he was a member of the Thurston Society (an academic honor society), President of the local chapter of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity and served as Executive Editor of Hastings Law Journal. He is a member of the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys and Health Law Section of the ABA. Gary lectures regionally and nationally on physician compensation issues, practice management companies and managed care contractual arrangements. |
