Why @ eBags: After many years at large, structured corporations, eBags offered a chance to work in a fresh, casual atmosphere. Before coming to eBags, I assumed I would have to move to California to enjoy a working environment like this. I get to stay in my hometown, close to family and friends. I knew I could survive and thrive in the structured environments, but this is a chance to prove (to myself) that I can make it in new world and master "cutting-edge" technology. Also, it's a chance to be with some of my Samsonite "family" and friends.
Favorite Childhood Trip: Mesa Verde National Park in Southwestern Colorado. At the time I had an "instamatic" camera (I may be aging myself, anyone remember those?) with "flash cubes," etc. At the time, it seemed to be the cutting edge of technology. I reveled in the role of amateur photographer. My family owned a camping trailer so we could go back "home" at the end of each day. Camping was special as we always had things like chocolate milk and "Little Debbies" that we normally didn't enjoy at home (remember "Spam" the canned meat product?). Playing cards at night with the family (no electricity!). Mesa Verde was fascinating as I enjoyed seeing and imagining the way earlier people lived. The earlier folks were not as tall as we are today so, at the time, their dwellings fit me to a tee.
Other Great Trips: Italia, last year for three weeks -- passion for food, wine, art, architecture; romance; fountains (everywhere -- beautiful); marble (again, everywhere); the people -- so welcoming; the ancient city of Pompeii (see Mesa Verde, above); Vespas, cell phones, sunglasses, fashion.
Favorite City: Rome, New York, San Francisco, Cozumel (circa 1986), Denver. Close seconds: Boston; Providence, Rhode Island (Italian food!); Jacksonville, Florida; Washington D.C
Favorite eBags Feature: After an order ships, we email our customers, providing the UPS tracking number. Our customers are then empowered to track the progress of their merchandise. Any time we can furnish our customers instant access to information, at their convenience, we are happy when our Customers are happy.
Favorite Product: The Samsonite 700 Series/Silhouette 6 Medium EZ CART Suiter. I enjoyed many years at Samsonite and still have the utmost respect for the great people there. If you've not yet tried a bag with 4 wheels, I highly recommend it. The size, for me, is perfect -- not too large, not too small. I check my bags. The two interior shelves allow you to literally "live out of the bag" when away from home. |
