Gary provides leadership to IHG’s brands, marketing, sales and communications teams, guiding them as they work towards strengthening the profile of each of the hotel brands and maximising hotel performance. He is based in Singapore.
Gary has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the fast moving consumer goods sector and the travel and theme parks industry. He joins IHG from McDonald’s Corporation, where he most recently held the position of vice president, chief marketing and corporate affairs officer for McDonald’s China. In that role, Gary was instrumental in turning around McDonald’s business, driving brand leadership and delivering record sales and operating profit for the company in China. Before relocating to China, Gary was senior director of global marketing for McDonald’s Corporation based in the US. He was also a vice president at Simon Marketing, lead promotional agency for McDonald’s in the US and Canada.
Prior to McDonald’s Corporation, Gary held various sales and marketing roles at The Walt Disney Company. His accomplishments at Disney included driving brand performance through innovative marketing plans and alliance relationships, generating significant increase in sales to the US theme parks from the European, Canadian, Latin American and Asia Pacific markets, and successfully establishing the Walt Disney World as one of the top wedding and honeymoon destinations in the world.
An American citizen, Gary started his career as part-owner of a tuxedo rental company. He has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Hartford and completed an executive management programme at Harvard University and Thunderbird University. |
