Since 1972 Gary has been actively involved in real estate, residential land development and home building in and around the Twin Cities metropolitan area. He, along with brother Randy Laurent, founded Laurent Builders, Inc., an award-winning home-building company, of which Gary is the president. Through various corporate and partnership entities, Gary owns and manages numerous residential developments, a commercial office building, Stonebrooke and Waters Edge golf courses as well as other properties.
Gary has been very active in serving on numerous boards, commissions and committees in various cities and at the regional and state levels. Gary is a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee of the Builders Association of Minnesota and has served as the chair of the Public Policy Committee of the Builders Association of the Twin Cities. Gary has been president of the Twin Cities Developers Council, Builders Association of the Twin Cities and is currently a director of the National Association of Home Builders.
Gary is a regionally recognized expert on issues related to housing, land use and governmental processes. He has been a governor appointee to several committees and has testified on many occasions before legislative committees and other policy-making boards. Gary served three terms as mayor of Shakopee, Minnesota, and has served the Shakopee community in many other ways, including chair of the Downtown Redevelopment and School Referendum Committees, board member of the Scott County Transportation Coalition, past president of the Shakopee Area Chamber of Commerce and the Shakopee Rotary Club. |
