Gary Hegenbart serves as Executive Vice President and Managing Director in the firm’s Orange County Office located in Irvine, California. He has 25 years experience acquiring top executive and management talent in various positions both in executive search and inside corporations as an executive having ultimate responsibility for hiring. In his search practice he places many C-level and key executives and their direct reports in several industries and is a member of the firm’s Global Life Sciences Technology and Industrial Practices. For sixteen years prior to joining DHR, Dr. Hegenbart held the top corporate executive human resources position at three global public corporations in the specialty pharmaceuticals, aerospace and transportation manufacturing industries. Those companies were Valeant Pharmaceuticals, Huck International (Federal-Mogul, then Thiokol); and Fairchild Corporation. Having business partners and operational responsibilities for companies on six continents, he has traveled and conducted international business, including recruiting, extensively. He has consulted in areas including mergers and acquisitions, international business development, talent acquisition and training, and lean/six sigma to industries such as: life sciences, manufacturing, aerospace, technology, consumer products, retail, financial services and hospitality. Additionally, he has appeared as an employer expert witness in trials. This comprehensive background brings a unique understanding and experience of business and talent acquisition to Dr. Hegenbart’s clients, using a consultative approach critical to the success of each assignment. Dr. Hegenbart is actively involved in supporting community and charitable organizations. Besides being active in church ministries and events to benefit the underprivileged through several local and international relief organizations, he is also a National Alzheimer’s Association Member and Advocate and a sponsoring member of its Orange County chapter. He is a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association and sponsors its philanthropic events, as well as those of Biola University, Hope International University and the University of California--Irvine.Professional memberships include: Association for Corporate Growth, Life Science Industry Council, Society of Human Resources Management, National Human Resources Association and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Dr. Hegenbart has spoken at national seminars and executive roundtables, and been featured in business and Human Resources publications. He has been an adjunct instructor of undergraduate and graduate management courses at the University of Illinois, the University of California Irvine and the University of Phoenix. He earned an M.B.A. from National University of San Diego, and three degrees from the University of Illinois: a Doctorate in Administration and Supervision, a Master’s in Counseling Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Education. Born and raised in Illinois, he and his wife Carla have lived in Huntington Beach for over 20 years. They have three daughters: Jennifer, the Wedding and Catering Manager at Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort in Palm Desert (whose husband Straty is Sales Manger at Shadow Ridge Marriott Vacation Club Resort), and Krista and Sarah both in full-time Christian service as Resident Directors and counselors on staff at Biola University in La Mirada, California.
