Gary W. Burns Gary W. Burns is a Managing Director and heads the Restructuring & Turnaround Group. He has over 25 years of bankruptcy advisory, restructuring, interim management and financial consulting experience. Mr. Burns specializes in advising debtors, secured creditors, bondholders and unsecured creditors committees in connection with both in and out-of-court restructurings, operational turnarounds and Chapter 11 reorganizations. He also has experience with acquisitions, dispositions and debt restructurings involving distressed companies. Mr. Burns currently serves as the Chief Restructuring Officer of a troubled oil company and has previously served as liquidating trustee. He has provided expert witness testimony in a number of cases, including bankruptcy confirmation hearings and fraudulent conveyance litigation. Mr. Burns has worked on a wide range of engagements including Warnaco, Kmart, Bethlehem Steel, United Airlines, Tower Automotive, Circle K, and Blue Water Automotive Systems. Mr. Burns has lectured on a number of bankruptcy and restructuring topics, including conferences sponsored by the American Bankruptcy Institute. Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Burns led the US Corporate Recovery practice at KPMG as the national partner-in-charge. Previous to that, he was a regional Corporate Recovery partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Burns earned his MBA and BA from Michigan State University. He is a member and former Board member of the American Bankruptcy Institute. |
