Gary S. Cullen is vice president, deputy general counsel of Con-way Inc. (previously known as CNF Inc.) is a $4.2 billion transportation and logistics company with businesses in less-than-truckload motor carriage, truckload and brokerage services, logistics, warehousing, supply chain management and trailer manufacturing.
Mr. Cullen is responsible for corporate law matters for Con-way Inc. including corporate governance, securities law compliance, financing matters and executive compensation. He also oversees the corporate secretary’s department, reporting to Con-way’s general counsel.
An attorney with more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Cullen started his legal career in 1982 as an associate with Thompson, Hine & Flory in Cleveland, Ohio. He also practiced at Sidley & Austin in Chicago and Los Angeles and at Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin in San Francisco. He became a partner at Howard Rice in 1992, and continued to practice there until joining CNF in 1995. Prior to starting his legal career, Mr. Cullen worked for four years as a research engineer for Amoco Chemicals Corporation.
Mr. Cullen is a member of the state bar associations of Ohio, Illinois and California and served on the Uniform Commercial Code Committee of the California State Bar Association from 1992 until 1995.
Mr. Cullen is a native of Sandusky, OH, he holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Ohio State University, and a JD degree from the Harvard Law School. He is based at the Con-way headquarters in San Mateo, CA. |
