Gary has more than 35 years of business experience including accounting, international accounting, evaluating internal control environments, improving operational efficiencies, and conducting complex investigations.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron, Gary was the Corporate Vice President of Internal Audit at Abbott Laboratories.
Gary joined Abbott Laboratories as a Manager of International Accounting. At that time, Abbott had sales of approximately $800 million and Gary became an integral part of the company’s growth to its current level of $18 billion in sales and over 70,000 employees worldwide.
Gary held numerous positions and was elected Vice President and Corporate Officer in 1993. For the majority of his time at Abbott, Gary directed the worldwide Internal Audit organization, all worldwide investigations and the external audit relationship. He also provided assistance to the Board of Directors and Chairman & Chief Executive Officer regarding operational, strategic and financial issues.
During his years at Abbott, Gary developed a highly automated and diverse audit organization, conducted over 850 audits, and hired 250 auditors.
Other relevant experience
Gary founded the Audit Executive Association in 1983. The attending members include a number of the largest manufacturing companies and meets regularly to advance the profession of internal audit.
