Gary Paxton, age 60, brings more than three decades of experience with Dollar Rent A Car to his current position as President and Chief Executive Officer.
Paxton's career with Dollar began in Seattle in 1968, working for the first Dollar franchise sold outside of California. Since that time, he has held a number of key positions at Dollar, including Vice President, Operations (1972-1974); Vice President, Properties (1974-1982); and Vice President, Properties and Facilities (1982-1986).
From 1974 until 1990, as chief airport negotiator, Paxton brought the company from an "off-airport" focus to "on-airport" entity by establishing and negotiating virtually all of Dollar's airport concessions/leases.
From 1986 to 1990, as Senior Vice President of Operations & Properties, Paxton was responsible for improving Dollar operational standards and procedures nationwide, raising the level of aesthetic uniformity at every Dollar location. System cohesiveness was further enhanced by his development of standardized building interiors and exteriors.
In December 1990, shortly after the Chrysler Corporation acquired the company, Paxton was appointed President of Dollar.
Today, Dollar and its licensees operate in-terminal locations at more than 100 of the nationšs airports. Consistent with Dollar's operating strategy, most major airports are operated corporately, with licensees operating all others
In December 2002, Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. (NYSE: DTG), parent company of the Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent A Car brands, unveiled a new corporate platform. Previously functioning as two separate operating companies (Dollar Rent A Car Systems, Inc. and Thrifty, Inc.), DTG now operates as a single company while continuing to support and grow both of its two strong brands independently. With the change in structure, Paxton was named DTG President and Chief Operating Officer Corporate Operations.
In October 2003, Paxton was named President and Chief Executive Officer. |
