Gary Kermott is Vice Chairman of First American Title Insurance Company. Mr. Kermott transitioned to this role in November 2006, following an eight-year term as President of First American Title Insurance Company. In addition to his role as Vice Chairman of the Title company, Mr. Kermott has also served as Executive Vice President of the First American Corporation since July 1999.
Mr.Kermott began working for First American while attending law school at Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California. Upon receiving his law degree in 1985, Mr. Kermott was promoted to Assistant Counsel on First Americans national legal staff. He served briefly in Phoenix as Associate Counsel before moving to Tucson, Arizona, to manage First American Titles Pima County office. In 1990, he was named President of the companys Arizona division, and in 1992 he was promoted to Regional Vice President for Arizona and Utah. In 1996, he returned to Santa Ana, California, when he was promoted to Executive Vice President of First American Title Insurance Company. In December 1997, he was named Chief Operating Officer; and, in 1999, he was named President.
In addition to his work with First American, Mr. Kermott currently serves as President-elect of the American Land Title Association (ALTA). He has also served on the ALTA Board of Governors since 2000 |
