Gary Kermott serves as executive vice president of The First American Corporation and president of First American Title Insurance Company. Mr. Kermott succeeded Parker S. Kennedy as president of First American Title Insurance Company when Kennedy was named chairman of the title subsidiary in January 1999. As president, Kermott oversees the title company?s nationwide operations.
Kermott has held numerous positions over the course of his career with First American, most recently as president of the Arizona division, and regional vice president for Arizona and Utah.
Kermott began working for First American while attending law school at Western State University College of Law. Upon receiving his law degree in 1985, Kermott was promoted to assistant counsel on national legal staff. He served briefly in Phoenix as associate counsel before moving to Tucson, Arizona, to manage First American Title?s Pima County office. In 1990, he was named president of the company's Arizona division, and in 1992 was named regional vice president for Arizona and Utah. In 1996, he was promoted to executive vice president of the title insurance company, and then was named chief operating officer in December 1997. On July 2, 1999, the company announced Kermott?s appointment to serve as executive vice president of First American Title?s parent company, The First American Corporation. |
